Codeweavers launch manufacturer motor insurance programs

Working in collaboration with insurance broker partner Lloyd Latchford, Codeweavers have launched four new manufacturer motor insurance programs.

The manufacturers concerned are Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar and Landrover. All four programs are available on the relevant manufacturer websites.

The motor insurance application offers the customer an easy to use interface, with competitive fully comprehensive insurance quotations being returned following completion of the required question set.

All four manufacturer programs also offer the ability to deliver a 'Driveaway' seven day insurance offering. This policy can be arranged by the customer while in the showroom environment by simply completing an on-line application. This approach is preferable to the current fulfilment method, which usually involves a protracted phone call to a call centre.
The cover note (for either seven day insurance or the 12 month policy) can be accessed immediately by the Dealer.

Codeweavers will also be launching their next manufacturer insurance programs in early October - these will be for Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge.

New 'Record' for monthly finance calculation requests!

Marshall Motor Group, the Cambridge based AM Top100 Dealer Group, has set a new record for the highest amount of monthly finance calculation requests made by a Client of Codeweavers.

In August 2009 more than 3.5 million requests for calculations were fired at Codeweavers' servers from the Marshalls site, providing their customers with all of the interactive tools that they need to establish the affordability of Marshalls used car stock.

Martin Hill, Sales & Marketing Director of Codeweavers, says: "Marshall Motor Group have become the first Codeweavers Client to push through the '3 million calculation requests in one month' milestone. We believe this not only demonstrates the profile that Marshalls have given to the financial services section of their website, but also shows what is possible when all elements of the marketing mix are utilised towards driving traffic to a Dealer's website".

GForces celebrate 10 year Anniversary

Major Codeweavers partner GForces is celebrating its 10th anniversary in business.

The international web management company (www.gforces.co.uk)  has worked on many projects in collaboration with Codeweavers. These involve successfully integrating interactive finance and insurance content into their many Automotive Client sites.

Martin Hill, Sales & marketing Director at Codeweavers, is proud of the long-term association with GForces. He said:

‘GForces are a forward-thinking company that we feel ideally match our innovative technology. Successfully integrating our webservices into their NetDirector Auto platform (http://www.netdirectorauto.co.uk/) offers a valuable and leading-edge proposition to an ever-expanding rage of automotive clients.
The integration of Codeweavers’ technology allows visitors to a website to get live motor insurance quotes and live finance quotations for any car on the site. This is great news for car buyers, allowing them to gain a clear and complete cost of motoring, while for automotive dealers the technology is a key tool for increasing the average visit time to their site.
Working with GForces has been a joy and proved a great success for both companies. We’d like to congratulate them on their 10th Anniversary and wish them many more decades of continued success.’

Marshall Motor Group include Codeweavers interactive content

Marshall Motor Group, the Cambridge based multi-franchise Motor Group, has added Codeweavers' 'YourCarLoan' and 'YourCarMotorInsurance' interactive content to their revamped web site.

www.marshallweb.co.uk now includes the ability for any web customer to bespoke their own finance quotation using hire purchase, PCP or Lease Purchase products. As the finance and insurance calculators are intergated into the Marshalls group used car stock pages, the finance products are displayed immediately upon returning the results of a customers search.

The customer can then choose their own deposit, annual mileage and term of agreement, with the Marshalls team being confident that they will always be able to honour a quotation due to the automatic validation of each finance product with each item of stock - so if a vehicle is too old for a PCP quotation, or too high on mileage at inception, then a quotation for that product will not be returned. These are REAL quotations from REAL Lenders!

Marshalls can also control the sell-out price of the finance offering on a car-by-car basis. This can be controlled by finance rate, APR or even by a monetary amount.

The Customer also has the ability to either submit a fully secure finance proposal form, or to even get in touch with Marshalls asking for more information on both the vehicle and the finance package that appeals to them. In this way many more initial contacts will be made, with the customer spending an increased amount of time on the Marshallweb site.

The Car Shop Megastore add Codeweavers to their site

The Car Shop Megastore (www.carshop.co.uk), a three-site used car supermarket based in Swindon, Cardiff and Northampton, has added the Codeweavers 'YourCarLoan' and 'YourCarMotorInsurance' interactive content to their site.

The Car Shop's brief to Codeweavers was to assist their chosen media company, G Forces, to include interactive finance and insurance calculators that allow the web customer to assess the affordability of used car stock. This has been successfully achieved, with Car Shop customers now being able to research their next vehicle purchase (including how they will fund their vehicle) online.

As is standard with any Codeweavers integration, the Car Shop can control the sell out price of the finance and insurance offering on a vehicle by vehicle basis. 'Calls to Action', designed to encourage the web customer to call or visit the Car Shop retail sites, have also been included.

Codeweavers 'extremely impressed' with Progress DMS

Codeweavers are pleased to announce yet another successful integration with a leading UK Media Company.

Progress DMS, based in Newbury in Bersksire (www.progressdms.co.uk), have conducted a first class integration of the Codeweavers interactive financial services applications into their existing Dealer web platform. This now enables any Progress DMS Client to request the addition of the 'YourCarLoan' finance calculators, as well as the award winning 'YourCarMotorInsurance' aggregator.

Martin Hill, Codeweavers Sales & Marketing Director, was extremely impressed with the integration work completed by Progress DMS. "Codeweavers work with many of the UK's Media Companies and web design organisations, and in many instances there have been several attempts necessary to ensure the integration is both user friendly and returns accurate information. This was not the case with Progress DMS - their first attempt at the integration was not only extremely fast and accurate, but they showed a real flair when it came to the design of the pages to accommodate the financial services content. As a result, their first two Clients to benefit from the integration have already reported positive results.
Codeweavers believe that this excellent start will mean a very constructive working relationship going forward with both Progress DMS and also their Clients."

The first two Progress DMS Clients are Land L Automotive ( www.landlautomotive.co.uk ) and Eden Vauxhall (www.edenvauxhall.co.uk ).

Codeweavers' MD recommends 'Keep it Simple'

Recently I discussed improving the photos on your website, but the best pictures in the world are worthless if the rest of the site is a turn-off. There is one golden rule in our business – keep it simple!

One of my pet hates is when I come to a website from a search engine such as Google to be greeted by a button stating “Click here to enter my site”. Why? I’ve already chosen to enter your site via the search engine, why do I now have to do it again?

No introductory flash movies, no buttons, all you need is an easy-to-navigate home page where your potential customer can find what they want, quickly. The web industry knows that if a site takes more than seven seconds to fulfil the customer’s needs, that customer will go elsewhere – you don’t have long…

Your homepage is your shop window just like on the High Street, where the only obvious businesses that don’t make much effort with their windows are sex shops and funeral parlours. Everyone else carefully dresses their window to catch the customer – you must do the same online.

On one site recently, a large used-car business, I couldn’t find my way to the used car section – trying to get there was a huge turn-off. If you sell used cars, ensure that your site takes the user straight to those cars. And don’t – this is another pet hate – tart up your site with pictures of Porsche 911s, Audi R8s and Aston Martins, unless that is what you sell.

Take a look at another site I recently found. www.burnettcars.co.uk is clearly not a large outlet with only around 20 cars to sell. But on this good-looking site one click takes you to the showroom where every car on sale is displayed with a good selection of pictures and a neat video.

Compare this with www.stratstone.com, from one of the biggest dealer groups in the UK, and incidentally one of the better websites around – but it actually takes three times as long to get to the used car selection as it does on Burnett Cars.

The internet is a great leveller – online, little Burnett Cars has an equal, maybe better, opportunity to sell its stock as does the might of Stratstone. And you could too – if you Keep It Simple…

Dealer Finance Penetration Falls in February

Car Dealer Magazine has reported Finance and Leasing Association (FLA) statistics showing a drop in the level of Dealer finance penetration.

Apparently consumers bought 21 per cent fewer new and used cars using dealer finance in February 2009.  The FLA maintain that this shows the impact the recession is having on motor finance providers.
However Martin Hill, Sales & Marketing Director for Codeweavers, has evidence that this is not necessarily the full story....

'The drop in finance penetration will obviously be influenced by the current market - for instance, there will be some people that will withdraw savings to purchase a vehicle - largely due to the level of interest on their savings being reduced substantially in recent months. Also there are still one or two issues with availability of credit in general - although this can't really be used to explain falling Dealer finance penetration, as these customers are obviously finding credit lines somewhere.

All of the independent research shows that customers are using the web to research not just their vehicle purchase, but also the best way of funding that purchase. This means that there is a significant and growing population of customers that are contacting Dealers with their funding already in place. If this happens, then the Dealer invariably will try to convert the customer to Dealer finance but will be on the back foot from the start. Usually these sort of conversions result in negligible finance profit, as the main reason for using Dealer finance - Convenience - no longer applies as the customer already has their facility in place.'

Hill then goes on to explain:
'To attempt to capture more customers at the reserach stage, Codeweavers offer a facility called 'YourCarLoan', integrated within a Dealers website. It allows for REAL finance calculations from real Lenders to be presented to customers at this important research stage. Integrated with the vehicle stock pages, YourCarLoan allows the Dealer to control the sell out price of the finance and in that way make their stock more affordable using various funding options.
These funding options include HP, Lease Purchase and PCP - the residual value options are obviously making cars more affordable and are appealing to customers, as the FLA statistics show a 3% increase in penetration of the PCP product.'

There are many existing Codeweavers' Clients that have felt the tangible benefits of this exciting interactive content.

'There are success stories ranging from increases in finance penetration, more cars being sold at or near the screen price, and also major increases in the average time a customer will spend on a Dealer's website.' explains Martin Hill.

Sunwin Group add Codeweavers services to new Group Site

Sunwin Group, the Bradford based multi-franchised Dealer Group, has unveiled it's new website.

Designed and built in conjunction with their media Partner, Chapter Eight, the new site features the award winning Codeweavers interactive financial services tools 'YourCarLoan' and 'YourCarMotorInsurance'.

Key to Sunwin's drive to increase the interactive content of their site was the ability to bring together more of the total costs of ownership of that vehicle - in this case not just the affordability of the monthly payments but the tailored fully comprehensive insurance quotation also.

Tip from Codeweavers' MD: quality car images

OVER the last year we at Codeweavers have revolutionised the way dealers sell finance through their websites. But what’s the point in adding such features if the site itself is a turn-off to the customer? Sound familiar? Don’t panic – adding appeal to your site is not rocket science and doesn’t cost big money.

My big bugbear is poor photographs. Driving past a dealer in the spring sunshine, I will see a perfectly placed line-up of spotlessly clean cars, all catching the eye, screaming ‘Come and look’.

Yet I go on the same dealer’s website, and I find a grotty single picture of each car for sale, sometimes so over-exposed you can’t even see what the car is. I’ve seen pictures of dirty cars, cars plastered with for sale plates, even cars with people sitting in them. They all shout we can’t be bothered and they certainly don’t say ‘buy me’.

Yet producing top quality pictures for your site is not at all difficult. Today’s digital technology in even the most basic point and shoot cameras produces excellent results, so all you need is a little common sense behind the camera.

You spend lots of cash ensuring your valeters do the best job on your cars, so why not train someone up to be an ‘e-valeter’, responsible for the look of your website pictures? One of your staff might already enjoy photography as a hobby, but if not, send them on a basic course. You’ll spend a few hundred pounds at most, and only once, and you will get the money back in your first couple of sales.

Do the basics – for example make sure that every picture is from the same angle, just as the cars are on your forecourt. But do more too. Use extra pictures and consider adding video – it’s not as hard to do as you might think, and it’s the next big thing on the net (two years ago had you heard of YouTube?).

A pristine line-up on the forecourt might bring 10 people a day into your showroom. A pristine line-up on your website could bring in hundreds – even thousands…

Motor Range add Codeweavers to their new website

Motor Range, one of the pioneers of the Car Supermarket model on Merseyside in the late 1990's, has successfully added the Codeweavers services into their new website: www.motorrange.co.uk .

With a huge range of vehicles in stock, it is crucial that the affordability of the vehicles on display is brought to the attention of the web customer in a consistent and uniform way. The 'YourCarLoan' and 'YourCarMotorInsurance' web services are now facilitating this very effectively. Motor Range have also decided to brand their financial services pages with a consistent corporate identitiy to ensure a smooth and logical user experience for their customers.

The integration was handled by Motor Range's digital partner G-Forces, who are one of the Codeweavers Partners that can bring these interactive solutions to their Dealer Clients.

NOW Vauxhall choose Codeweavers

NOW Vauxhall, a five site Vauxhall, Saab and Chevrolet Group in the South East of England, have successfully added the Codeweavers 'YourCarLoan' finance calculator and the 'YourCarMotorInsurance' aggregator to their Group website: www.nowvauxhall.co.uk .

NOW Vauxhall are keen to focus on the interactive nature of the web user experience. By utilising the Codeweavers' services they can now offer the ability for more customers to spend more time on their website without having to leave to check on monthly payment affordability or motor insurance quotations - two of the main reasons why a web customer will click away from a Dealer's website once they find a vehicle(s) they are interested in.

NOW Vauxhall's integration was facilitated successfully by Bluesky Interactive, one of the digital partners that assist Codeweavers in bringing a new level of F&I interactivity to their Dealer and Manufacturer Clients.

Codeweavers in the motoring press following Glass's Event speech

Codeweavers have received several plaudits following their address to the audience at the recent Glass's Event, held on November 14th at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham. Delivered by Martin Hill, Codeweavers' Sales & Marketing Director, the speech focused on encouraging Dealers to make their websites extensions of their Showrooms. This would include making their vehicle stock as affordable as possible to any potential buyers

The press coverage has included Car Dealer magazine and Dealer Update magazine, as well as many Glass's Event attendees approaching the Codeweavers exhibition stand on the day to find out how customers can be engaged earlier in the car buying process.

The Codeweavers' message at the Glass's Event was also echoed by presentations by  both Google and motors.co.uk, who reinforced the fact that the Dealer or Manufacturer website is now the main point of contact for initial reserach into the car purchase. It not only makes sense to engage buyers at this point, but also to provide them with the ability to construct their own personalised finance and motor insurance package online - before even coming into the Showroom.

New look Arbury site includes Codeweavers

Arbury Motor Group, based in Leamington Spa in the Midlands, has launched its new website. It has asked Codeweavers to provide an interactive finance and insurance experience worthy of the new look site.

Codeweavers has provided both their industry leading webservices to the Arbury site. The integration of the YourCarLoan dynamic finance calculators was requested by Arbury Group to provide tailored quotations, chosen by the customer, that are designed to make used car stock more affordable. This has been achieved by use of residual value products in conjunction with the standard HP calculation - thus providing the customer with a real alternative to a basic instalment credit product.

Scott Stenning from Arbury Group was extremely pleased with the interactive experience now on offer to their customers. "The addition of the Codeweavers finance calculators has allowed us to show our customers just how affordable our vehicles can be. We want to move away from the traditional finance model and focus on what makes Dealers different. PCP quotations allow us to do just that."

John Clark Group subscribe to Codeweavers services

John Clark Group, the Aberdeen based AM100 Motor Dealer Group,  have applied the Codeweavers webservices to their Group website.

The inclusion of both the YourCarLoan finance calculators and the YourCarMotorInsurance insurance aggregator will ensure future vistors to the site have an interactive consumer experience that is second to none. The webservices are integrated into the used car stock module for the Group, thus allowing bespoke calculations to be created to the customers own specification.
